Shoaib Sabir

Shoaib Sabir is an acclaimed architect who has designed some of Lahore’s most iconic buildings, including the Lahore Museum of Art and the Gulberg Palace. He was also responsible for designing the Sheikh Zayed Mosque in Abu Dhabi.


Sabir was born in Lahore in 1951. After completing his undergraduate studies at the University of Karachi, he worked as a assistant architect with Ahmad Mukhtar Khan before founding his own studio in 1984. Sabir’s work is characterised by its blend of traditional Islamic design elements with modern construction techniques.


Sabir has been awarded numerous prestigious awards, including the Pritzker Prize and the Agha Khan Award for Architecture. In 2006 he was recognised as a UNESCO Master Artist. Sabir died in Lahore on October 3rd 2017 aged 80
